30 Minutes northeast of Orlando you will find a Central Florida gem, Black Hammock Marina. Why kick off a series about Fun Things To Do In Orlando with something 30 minutes away? As I prepared material for this project one thing was recommended more often than any other: Airboat rides at the Black Hammock.

Located on the shores of Lake Jessup, one of the largest lakes in Central Florida, the Black Hammock offers airboat rides and much more. Lake Jessup has the state’s densest population of alligators, so each ride offers the opportunity for an up close encounter with Florida’s favorite reptile. You will fly like the wind at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour across the water. In search of Gators you will explore every creek and crany of Lake Jesup while also experiencing birds and turtles in their own natural habitat.

The boats run every 30 minutes between 9am and 5:30pm 7 days a week. A standard tour is 30 minutes with 45 minute and hour options available by reservation. All tours are lead by a US Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain.

After the boat ride enjoy the other experiences the Black Hammock has to offer. View live alligators at their Gator Exhibit. Go fishing and rent a boat for the day at their marina. Or just relax and enjoy the Lazy Gator Bar where you can wash down some fresh cooked alligator with a cold beer.
